鍵盤上に凝縮されたストラヴィンスキーの世界

ストラヴィンスキー自身がピアノ用に編曲した自作曲をすべて録音するプロジェクトの完結編。第1弾(WER-6683)と合わせて、これにて全曲が出揃いました。今作には色鮮やかなバレエ『ペトルーシュカ』、12音技法も取り入れた抽象的なバレエ『アゴン』、単色にしてアクセントの綾で互いに協奏する『コンチェルティーノ』、アメリカ時代にジャズ・バンドのために書かれた『ロシア風スケルツォ』が収録されています。曲ごとの個性にも注目、まるでそれぞれが別世界のようです。ストラヴィンスキーは若いころピアノ編曲版を通して西洋音楽のレパートリーを知りました。その経験が自作においてもピアノ編曲を行う理由のひとつになっているかも知れません。多様性と色彩感において比肩するもののないストラヴィンスキーの音楽たち、その魅力が白と黒の鍵盤に凝縮され、高い集中度でもって奏でられます。ブガッロ=ウィリアムズ・ピアノ・デュオはストラヴィンスキーの他にクルターク(WER-6766)やナンカロウ(WER-6670)のアルバムも発表しており、技術は折り紙つき。細かいリズムがメカニカルにパリッと弾かれる様は快感すらあります。
