Perhaps more than any other major Hollywood composer, Jerry Goldsmith suffered the misfortune of writing some of his greatest scores for some legendarily awful films -- 1978's horror dud The Swarm falls squarely in that category, but regardless of the movie's significant shortcomings, the music remains one of Goldsmith's most inventive and visceral efforts. What's remarkable about The Swarm is how convincingly Goldsmith's symphonic compositions evoke the sound of millions of bees attacking en masse -- without relying on any studio tricks or chicanery, themes like "Main Title/Red Two Reporting" and "The Bees Arrive" employ stiletto-sharp bursts of brass and divebombing strings to capture with vivid accuracy the sensation of a swirling insect strike. １９７８年のパニック映画「スォーム」のサントラ。音楽はジェリー・ゴールドスミス。映画で使用されたフルスコアとアルバムヴァージョンの２枚組で、以前ベルギーの「PROMETHEUS」レーベルよりアルバムヴァージョンが出ていましたが、今回は「LA-LA LAND」レーベルお得意の完全盤。映画としての評価はいまいちですが「END TITLE」が秀逸です。
