1994年にスタートしたリック・ルービンとのコラボレーション・シリーズ『American Recordings』ファイナル作品！2003年にジョニー・キャッシュが亡くなった後もリリースされ、高い評価を得てきた本シリーズの第6弾にして最期を締め括る1枚。シェリル・クロウのカヴァー「Redemption Day」、親友クリス・クリストファソンのカヴァー「For The Good Times」、トム・パクストン「Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound」、ボブ・ノーラン「Cool Water」、エド・マッカーディ「Last Night I had the Strangest Dream」、J.H.レッド・ヘイズとジャック・ローズ「Satisfied Mind」、クイーン・リリウオカラニ「Aloha Oe」等の作品、そして目玉は未発表だったジョニー・キャッシュのオリジナルで亡くなるまでの最期の3年間で制作された楽曲「I Corinthians: 15:55」。

Released three days before what would have been Cash's 78th birthday, 'Ain't No Grave' was taken from the same sessions as 'American V: A Hundred Highways'. The American Recordings series were produced by Rick Rubin and recorded by Johnny Cash during the final months of his extraordinary life. 'Ain't No Grave' is the final batch of songs from the American sessions to be released posthumously, and includes a mixture of covers and original material.|
