新たな戴冠式プロジェクトは「英国」!

名匠ポール・マクリーシュが1982年に創設したイギリスを代表する古楽アンサンブル&合唱団、ガブリエリ・コンソート&プレーヤーズ。ヴェネツィアの第89代ドージェ(総督)マリーノ・グリマーニ(1532-1605)の戴冠式を音楽で再現し、ガブリエリ・コンソート&プレーヤーズの名声を決定付けた名盤『ヴェネツィアの戴冠1595』、結成30周年を迎えたガブリエリ・コンソートが、さらなる研究、時代考証を重ねて送り出した『新・ヴェネツィアの戴冠1595』の続編となる新たな戴冠式プロジェクト。今度は20世紀イギリスを舞台に、1902年エドワード7世、1911年ジョージ5世、1937年ジョージ6世、1953年エリザベス2世の戴冠式を再現。これまでも、ベルリオーズ(SIGCD 280)、メンデルスゾーン(SIGCD 300)、ブリテン(SIGCD 340)、ハイドン(SIGCD 480)などで超巨大編成を見事にコントロールしてきたポール・マクリーシュが、ロンドン中から集められた300名超の合唱団、フルサイズ・オーケストラ、ブラスアンサンブルなどによるミュージシャンを指揮し、壮麗壮大なイギリスの戴冠式を表現します。
