フェアウェル～ポーランド歌曲集

世界的大人気カウンターテナー歌手ヤクブ・ユゼフ・オルリンスキと、ピアニストのミハウ・ビエルによるニューアルバムは、母国ポーランドの19世紀と20世紀の、ポーランドの音楽を開花させた作曲家へのオマージュ。

1990年ワルシャワに生まれのヤクプ・ユゼフ・オルリンスキ(Jakub Jozef Orlinski)は、カウンターテナー歌手でありブレイクダンスを得意としています。2018年には『テレグラフ』で「世界で最も魅力的なオペラアーティスト10人」に選ばれ、2019年には「Opus Klassik」賞および『グラモフォン』誌の最優秀若手アーティスト賞を受賞している。2020年に「Paszport Polityki」(『ポリティカ』誌の「パスポート」賞)を受賞。2022年には、メトロポリタン歌劇場デビューを飾っています。

ここに収録された作品は、非常に強烈で、ポーランド的で、ロマンたっぷりの音楽。詩情溢れ、心に響く、歌心溢れるポーランド屈指の作曲家たちによる心温まる歌曲集で、多くの美しい曲が含まれています。シマノフスキの「クルピエ地方の歌」は、かつての天かける幻想と重厚華麗な作風は姿を消して、原民謡そのままの非常に簡潔な作品。タトラ山脈でのスキー遠征中、雪崩により非業の死を遂げたメロディーメーカー、カルウォーヴィチ。ポーランド音楽界の再生を担う希望の星として、シマノフスキ以上に将来を有望視されていました。このアルバムの中でも中心的なものとなっており、印象的な美しさと情熱に満ちています。

これらの歌曲集の録音は多いものではありませんが、やはりポーランド出身の歌手らによってオペラティックに歌われたものがありました。ここではカウンターテナーという声質というだけでなく、バロックから現代物まで幅広いレパートリーを持つオルリンスキの歌唱の絶妙なヴィヴラートを操ることによって、こうした歌曲への新しい光と解釈を与えています。

With a preternaturally creamy tone, countertenor Jakub Jozef Orliński has climbed to the upper reaches of the heap of younger singers competing in his vocal specialty. It may nevertheless be surprising to see Orliński, at this comparatively early point in his career, moving into the territory of the post-castrato non-countertenor repertory of Romantic and modern art songs. This was pioneered by Andreas Scholl, but Orliński is not quite at that level of renown yet. Moreover, these songs, all in Polish, are likely to be all but unknown to non-Polish listeners. What makes the album work is simply the ravishing beauty of many of them; they are likely to make many listeners ask what else theyve been missing in this repertory. Orliński programs works by six composers, ranging from Stanisław Moniuszko, the dean of 19th century Polish composers, to contemporary composer Pawel Lukaszewski; the others are somewhat well known (Karol Szymanowski), slightly known (Mieczyslaw Karlowicz and perhaps Tadeusz Baird), and less-than-slightly known (Henryk Czyż). Despite the diversity of periods and styles, the program has a consistent mood, romantic and nostalgic, and holds together beautifully. More than that, it strikes a tone that Orliński can exploit to the hilt. The accompaniment by Michał Biel is marvelously understated. This is a very fine countertenor recital.
