エキセントリックで孤独な人物でありながら、フランス音楽モダニズムの予言者として、ラヴェルやドビュッシーにその素晴らしい創造性を支持されたエリック・サティ。早くに母親を亡くし、パリ音楽院では「才能がない」と貶されるなど数々のトラウマを抱えながらも、モンマルトルのカフェ・コンセール『黒猫』に集う芸術家の1人となり、プーランクやドビュッシー、コクトーやピカソと交流。神秘結社「ばら十字教団」と関係するなどの波乱の人生から数多くの独自性ある作品を遺し、後世に多大な影響を与えました。
使用曲: サラバンド第2番、グノシエンヌ第3番、ジムノペディ第3番(ドビュッシー編)、ワルツ=バレエより、オジーヴ第1番、「ばら十字団」によ3つのソネリーより第1番、ヴェクサシオンより、梨の形をした3つの小品より他、全15曲の抜粋(フェイドイン、フェイドアウトあり)
