While Flo release some tension on their second album, Therapy at the Club is more rounded than its title indicates. Certain standouts, like the sisterly slow jam "Dont Break Her Heart" (pure 90s Mariah Carey apart from the "I will break your face" part) and exasperated bawler "Cry Ugly," would need to be remixed for the dancefloor. The same goes for "Therapy at the Club" itself, a swaying ballad in which Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas, and Renee Downer -- each of whom again co-writes most of the songs -- harmonize from the sidelines about drowning their romantic sorrows. As for the few truly uptempo numbers, the strutting "Leak It" and the Amy Allen collaboration "Remedied" are most powerful. The women hardly seemed reserved on their Top Five U.K. 2024 debut, but here, theyre downright uninhibited, at times more likely to evoke TLC and unsung one-album wonders Electrik Red than the likes of fellow British groups All Saints and even Sugababes. ~ Andy Kellman
