Lacuna Coil（ラクーナ・コイル）｜イタリアのゴシック・メタル・バンドが2020年9月に行った無観客ライヴを収めた作品『Live From The Apocalypse』

1997年に結成し、2000年代にはイタリアのゴシックメタルバンドとしては異例ともいえるアメリカでの成功を収め、50カ国以上で1,500回以上のライヴを行ってきたバンドLACUNA COIL（ラクーナ・コイル）。20周年記念のロンドン公演を収めた『The 119 Show - Live in London』(2018年発表)から短いスパンで届けられた新たなライヴ作品『Live from the Apocalypse』は、タイトルが示すとおりバンドの地元ミラノの有名なクラブ、アルカトラズで行われたパフォーマンスが収められている。

2020年9月に行われたこのライヴは、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大のため自宅で過ごすことを余儀なくされた世界中のファンたちにバンドの雄姿を届けられるよう配慮されたライヴ配信という形がとられた。そのため、バンドを熱狂的に迎え入れる大歓声、賞賛の拍手などは一切聴こえないという特別な雰囲気のなかでのパフォーマンスとなっている。

「誰もいない大きな空間で演奏するのは気が引けるが、家で観てくれたファンや舞台裏で働いてくれたスタッフと再会できたことは素晴らしい経験となったし、多くの感情や思いが込められた一度限りのイベントになったよ」(Andrea Ferro)。

世界中のファンがオンラインで視聴するなか行われたライヴは、2019年リリースの最新作『Black Anima』の全収録曲を演奏する特別な構成で、全てのボーナストラックまで網羅、さらにアコースティック・ピアノ・ヴァージョンの「Save Me (Apocalypse Version)」を特別収録したファンを心から満足させる内容だ。Cristina ScabbiaとAndrea Ferroの強力なツインヴォーカルと重厚な演奏が、臨場感のあるサウンドで堪能できる今作は、メンバーのMarco "Maki" Coti-Zelatiがプロデュースを担当している。ミキシングボードからリミックスされた音源は、Marco Barussoによるミックス、Marco D'Agostinoがマスタリングを施し、まるでその場に居たかのような追体験ができる。さらに複数のカメラを使用した多角的な映像が楽しめるボーナスDVDも付属される。
